I am a natural-born Alaskan, raised on Prince William Sound and a graduate from Valdez High School. The first summer after graduation, I was here in the Valley fighting the Miller’s Reach fire in the Division of Forestry Intern Crew. It was that summer that I fell in love with the Mat-Su. I went on to study civil engineering and construction management at UAF. The siren call of fat paychecks as a tradesman proved too much, and I entered a career as a construction surveyor and heavy equipment operator working in Mat-Su and across the state.

Meet Tim

I have worked all over our great state. From Fairbanks to Southcentral, the oilfields of Prudhoe Bay to the Canadian border. But the Mat-Su is home. With it’s ready access to outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and snowboarding, plus the social events and hometown feel of nearby Palmer, there is no place in the world I would rather be. I have put down roots and in August, I closed on my house and married the woman of my dreams.

Tim's

Background

I am running for the Mat-Su Assembly because we need a working Alaskan on the Assembly. A mathematician with callouses on his hands. A problem solver who will listen to the community. Someone who knows what it takes to bring a project in on time and under budget. My primary focus as an assemblyman will be to strengthen the public process and empower the people of our community’s role in government. I will push for more public input on every decision the Borough makes, both from individuals and from our community councils, giving the power back to the people.
